With great pleasure we are able to announce three new keynote speakers:
Endre Stigen, MSc, has just embarked on a Ph.D program focusing on preclinical imaging and gene therapy in cancer. His academic background lies within Biology and Medical Cell Biology. He has been a user of mental health care services for most of his adult life. “If someone told me ten years ago that I would one day give a talk at a big conference, let alone start a PhD program, I would have thought they had the wrong guy. That’s not me! You´re thinking of someone else!

Marian de Groot, MSc, director of the Dutch Expertise Centre for studying with disabilities in Higher Education. Handicap + Studie, the Dutch expert centre for studying with disabilities, stimulates the participation of students with disabilities in higher education. The mission of handicap + studie is to allow students with a handicap to successfully participate in the higher education of their choice.
Marian de Groot will present to you her keynote on: ‘How can we support students with mental health problems in higher education and vocational training?’
Lex Wunderink, MD, PhD, psychiatrist, is head of the Department of Education and Research and head of psychiatry residency training at Friesland Mental Health Services, Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. He is a research fellow at the University Centre of Psychiatry, University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands. His recent work on antipsychotic dose reduction in first episode psychosis has been published in JAMA Psychiatry, 2013. The surprising results, showing twice the recovery rates compared to maintenance treatment after 7 years of follow-up, elicited a debate about the pro’s and con’s of antipsychotic treatment.
Dr. Lex Wunderink will present to you his keynote on: ‘Long-term functional recovery in remitted first episode psychosis and antipsychotic treatment strategies’.
